Call for an Indigenous Board Director

For over 35 years, the Justice Education Society (JES) has improved people’s ability to access and provide justice worldwide. At JES, we believe that developing an individual's legal skills and strengthening the justice systems that serve them can help build a fairer society.
Our vital programs and resources have reached millions of people—including women and girls, Indigenous peoples, seniors, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQI+ community—equipping them with the tools they need to understand their legal systems and access the justice they deserve. Meanwhile, our renowned capacity-building programs have ensured that justice sector professionals are prepared to process cases efficiently, meet the legal needs of their communities, and deliver justice for all.
JES’s work is driven by our staff teams, networks of legal experts, and local partners in the communities where we operate. Together, we have developed innovative legal education resources and services, delivered comprehensive training for thousands of justice sector professionals, and improved the justice systems of more than 19 countries worldwide.
Board Director Opportunities
We are looking for a new Indigenous Board Director, preferably with a justice or educational background. Diversity on our board is integral, enabling us to truly represent, understand, and respond to the needs of our global community. As a Board member, you will provide strategic oversight, champion good board governance, and offer expert advice in areas vital to the organization’s long-term success. You don’t need to be a professional Board Director, but you should bring strong leadership, sound judgement, and a collaborative mindset to strategic decision-making. Above all, you’ll share our commitment to service and integrity, contributing curiosity, expertise and balanced perspectives to Board discussions.
The minimum appointment duration is two years, but we seek a director committed to a future with us and a long-term dedication to access to justice.
