Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person. JES legal navigators respond to thousands of public inquiries every year — and they're ready to help you too.
Connect with a legal navigator by live chat on LegalHelpBC.ca (and other JES websites), phone (1-855-875-8867), or text on weekdays between 11am and 2pm. If you reach us during offline hours, we will respond promptly by email, usually the next business day.
JES legal navigators provide information and referrals, but not legal advice. They can help you take the next step in your legal journey — including finding free or low-cost legal advice from a lawyer.
Ask AI
In 2025, JES introduced our first AI-powered chatbot to provide on-demand legal help to British Columbians. In 2026, we expanded the JES AI chatbot to include source information from 20 trusted BC websites – including source information from the BC government, BC courts, ICBC, Consumer Protection BC, Legal Aid BC and others.
The AI chatbot responds to questions in plain language, helping users understand complex legal issues, explore their options and navigate the next steps in BC justice processes. The chatbot is available on LegalHelpBC.ca (and other JES websites), providing answers to public inquiries 24/7/365, in English and other languages.
