Regional Initiative to Combat Human Trafficking and Deliver Justice for Women and Girls
The Regional Initiative to Combat Human Trafficking and Deliver Justice for Women and Girls (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras) Project supports increased justice for victims of human trafficking and transnational organized crime, particularly women, girls and other vulnerable groups in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Funded by Global Affairs Canada’s Anti-Crime Capacity Building Program (ACCBP) this initiative is working to improve technical investigation, analytical and prosecutorial skills and by building stronger national oversight and regional collaboration to combat human trafficking and organized crime in the Northern Triangle of Central America.
The project’s key activities include supporting improved coordination by national Trafficking in Persons (TIP) commissions to prevent, identify and combat trafficking in persons; increasing the adoption of gender-responsive, victim-centred, trauma-informed practices for the screening, investigation, analysis, prosecution and sentencing of TIP cases; and improving regional coordination and knowledge sharing.
